Carl Smedinghoff

Carl Smedinghoff

Carl Smedinghoff is a professional actuary with Goldstein & Associates.  Mr. Smedinghoff has been with Goldstein & Associates for the past 12 years and has been extensively involved in the various aspects of performing actuarial valuations for public pension funds.  He has developed considerable amount of expertise in the use of the firm's valuation software system in performing actuarial valuations of public pension funds.

Mr. Smedinghoff has been involved in two experience studies performed by our firm, which reviewed the termination, disability and retirement experience of several police, and firefighters' pension funds in relation to the actuarial assumptions used in these areas by the Department of Insurance.

Mr. Smedinghoff has considerable experience in performing actuarial calculations on behalf of attorneys in matrimonial law cases.  He has testified in court on a number of occasions.

Prior to joining Goldstein & Associates, Mr. Smedinghoff worked for two years as an actuarial assistant for a life insurance company in Naperville, Illinois.

Mr. Smedinghoff is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries.  He obtained this designation by passing 11 examinations sponsored by the Society of Actuaries.  He graduated with High Distinction with a B.A. in Mathematics from Indiana University.
